A short visit to the Paris record store behind a favorite series of in-store sessions.
It had been on my near-term bucket list to visit the store that curates and hosts my current go-to YouTube channel.
When I first discovered Yoyaku's Instore Sessions, I assumed they were based somewhere like Japan or San Francisco. Lofi Girl had been my previous go-to, and I later learned that its iconic cityscape background is inspired by Lyon, France. Go figure; my new favorite channel also has roots in France.
With that, I knew that my next trip to Paris would have to include a stop at Yoyaku. This past November I had a chance to visit when in town for Paris Photo.
The visit was short, but I instantly felt at home. The staff are friendly, the record selection is incredible, and the space features two performance rooms with unbeatable sound systems by Martion in Berlin.
Subb-an was on the decks that evening. I really wanted to stay and enjoy his full set but felt like I would be in the way of actual vinyl shoppers. Thankfully, we can all listen to the full set online.
If I ever get back into spinning vinyl, I'll be returning to Yoyaku with an empty rolling record case in tow so I can load up on new sounds for Channel Electronic.
